Paladon Systems receives approval to supply pneumatic and hydraulic actuators for the Wafra oilfield
Located on the Kuwait and Saudi Arabia border, the Wafra oilfield first started producing heavy crude in the 1950s. After decades of production the oilfield started to become unprofitable as reserves fell and subsequently the cost of production began to rise.
In a joint operation between Chevron and the Kuwait Gulf Oil Company (KGOC), since 2009 a pilot project comprising of 16 steam injection wells has been underway to determine whether steam injection recovery could be applied profitably to the entire field. The results from the pilot project are looking extremely promising with some estimates saying that an additional 1,000 billion barrels (approximately 30% of the entire Middle East oil reserves) could be recovered if steam injection was adopted across the entire field.
Vice President Sales Asia Pacific Region Anba Nagappan, “Paladon Systems is proud to have been approved to supply pneumatic and hydraulic actuators for the Wafra oilfield. We look forward to supporting the completion of the pilot project and the likely implementation of steam injection technology across the entire field.”
