Paladon Systems is awarded the contract to supply 78 valve actuators and control systems for the Solan platform
To be operated and developed by Premier Oil and Chrysaor and located west of Shetland in 137 metres water depth, the not permanently manned installation (NPMI) is expected to provide a peak flowrate of 28,000 bps of oil.
Paladon Systems has been tasked with supplying spring-return pneumatic scotch-yoke actuators and control systems for the platform’s 2” to 10” and ANSI 150 to 2500 shutdown, blowdown and ESD ball valves. A further award for the actuation of the platform's butterfly valves is also imminent. The various control systems will provide remote electric open and close control, partial valve stroke testing capability and include air receivers to provide 3 valve strokes in the event of loss of the main pneumatic supply source.
Sales Manager Bob Curnow, “We are delighted to have been selected by the platform’s topside engineering contractor ODE to provide the actuators and controls for this platform; especially when considering that we were involved in this project when it was just a conceptual design being carried out by SLP. We have worked with ODE on numerous projects over the past years and it was their previous positive experiences of working with us and the fact that we met 100% of the demanding specification that resulted in us being awarded this large contract. We look forward to continuing our close relationship with ODE and to the successful completion of this project.”
