Paladon Systems to supply the turbine bypass system for the Cairo West power station
Comprising of 28 hydraulic spring-return fail-close linear and quarter-turn actuators powered and controlled by a total of 8 hydraulic power units and PLCs, the systems will allow operation of the power plant’s boiler independently of the turbine during start-up, commissioning, shutdown and load change activities. The ability to operate the boiler independently of the turbine provides numerous benefits including reduced start-up and reloading times, increased equipment life and plant availability.
Owned by the Cairo Electricity Production Company and located approximately 25km from Cairo, the Cairo West power plant rated generating capacity is 650MW using either natural gas and/or heavy fuel oil. Engineered by Power Generation Engineering and Services Company, the power plant is scheduled to come online in 2021.
