Landmark Power Generation Project Win

Paladon Systems wins its first turbine bypass order in Malaysia for the Manjung 4 power plant

This week Paladon Systems received an order from
GE Energy in France for its first turbine bypass system for a Malaysian project, and also the first for a project engineered by EPC Power Alstom. Paladon Systems will be supplying 3 Hydraulic Power Units and 3 linear valve actuators with positioning systems to protect the steam turbines in the 1,000MW ultra-supercritical coal-fired power plant. The Manjung 4 power plant will be the largest single unit in South East Asia and capable of providing power to nearly 2 million homes.

Product Manager Mike Northwood, “
This is an exciting first for us and one that demonstrates that our advanced turbine bypass technology is being seen globally as the way forward in the conventional power generation industry. One of the features of our advanced technology is that our turbine bypass systems use much less energy than the traditional technologies and this feature compliments Power Alstom’s ultra-supercritical environmentally responsible technology that also provides operators with lower OPEX. Power Alstom’s ultra-supercritical technology allows operators to run these types of power plants at higher temperatures than conventional coal-fired power plants, resulting in improved efficiency and lower NOx and SOx emissions.”
