Humbly Grove Project Win

Paladon Systems to automate the storage of ten billion cubic feet of natural gas

Following a recent site survey of
Star Energy’s Humbly Grove facility, Paladon Systems has been chosen to retrofit thirteen 3” to 10” Class 600 to 1500 manual valves with Pneumatic & Hydraulic Quarter-Turn Actuators. Each actuator will be fitted with a control system to provide remote open/close valve operation, along with a closed loop breathing system to prevent environmental ingress to the actuator pneumatic cylinders during spring operation.

Applications Engineer Malcolm Norton, “
We’ve been providing equipment and field services to the Humbly Grove facility since 2005, and we are proud to support this critical part of England’s energy infrastructure throughout the whole retrofit process, from site review through to installation and commissioning.”

Located in Hampshire England, oil was originally discovered at Humbly Grove in 1980. Comprising of two oilfields (Great Oolite and Rhaetic), oil production commenced in 1984 and continues to this day. Due to falling reservoir pressures and oil production, in 1995 the first gas injection wells were drilled into the reservoirs. Today, Humbly Grove is primarily used as a gas storage facility.
