Hydraulic Power Unit shipped for the Deen Dayal Field Development Project
Paladon Systems is pleased to announce the successful completion of a fully stainless steel Hydraulic Power Unit (HPU) to be used offshore in the development of the Deen Dayal field. Using biodegradable fluid and ATEX Exd certified, the HPU will be used to power a double-acting actuator fitted to a 20” Class 2500 subsea ball valve.
Project Lead Design Engineer Alessandro Bernini, “What was particularly interesting about the design of this HPU was the client’s requirement to have it powered by a pneumatic rather than an electrical supply source and the extremely critical nature of application. To ensure the highest system reliability, two air pumps were incorporated into the design, with one to be used during normal operation and one to act as a back-up. These pumps are designed to charge four 50 litre hydraulic accumulators which provide the hydraulic pressure needed to power the subsea actuator. The system also includes two 50 litre nitrogen bottles to provide emergency power in the event of loss of the primary pneumatic supply source.”
Operated by Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation (GSPC), the Deen Dayal field is located off the eastern coast of India in the Krishna Godavari basin.
