Paladon Systems to provide 22 electro-hydraulic linear positioning systems for ADNOC’s Shah Gas Development project
The double-acting linear actuators and control systems will be fitted to 8” Class 2500 production choke valves to provide precise valve positioning control via HART communication with an accuracy of ±0.5%. The stainless steel systems will be powered using a ring-main hydraulic supply with pressures up to 207 Barg and be designed to operate in ambient operating temperatures up to +58°C. Designed to fail stay-put (fail-last) on loss of the hydraulic supply, electrical supply or command signal, the systems will be fitted with hydraulic handpumps to allow for local manual control.
Product Manager Mike Northwood, “Having recently demonstrated our positioning technology at the ADIPEC exhibition in Abu Dhabi, we are pleased to see that our hydraulic valve positioning systems are increasingly being considered by the major end users in the Middle East as the preferred solution.”
The goal of the Shah Gas Development project is to produce up to 1 billion cubic feet per day (cf/d) of natural gas to increase ADNOC’s total output to 6 billion cf/d. The additional gas from the field will be used mainly as feedstock for new power, desalination and petrochemical plants in Abu Dhabi and the northern emirates, with the remainder being reinjected into Abu Dhabi’s oil fields to maintain reservoir pressure and production.
