BP chooses Paladon Systems to supply stainless steel actuators after numerous failures of carbon steel actuators supplied by others
Paladon Systems’ experience with critical applications in the most extreme environmental conditions has resulted in them being awarded an order for the supply of 65 stainless steel spring-return scotch-yoke actuators. Fitted to 3” Class 600 ball valves, the actuators will be supplied with control systems to allow for remote on/off operation and to ensure that the valves close on either loss of the pneumatic supply pressure or electrical control signal.
Sales Manager, Bob Curnow, “These units will be installed in a sand separation system on the West Azeri platform that is located off the coast of Baku in Azerbaijan. The operating environment is extremely corrosive and the application so critical that BP specified that all pressure containing parts of the actuators were to be manufactured from 316 stainless steel and sized to provide twice the actual valve torque requirements. BP's decision to move to stainless steel actuators was made after numerous failures of carbon steel actuators previously supplied by other manufacturers. We look forward to commencing shipments in September."
